A Century by the Lake
This exhibition, featuring artworks by Sir William Dobell from Lake Macquarie Council’s art collection, celebrates Dobell’s incredible legacy and marks the 100th year of Dobell House.
Dobell House and artist studio is a Lake Macquarie creative treasure, located in Wangi Wangi. Dobell took residence at the house in the 1940s until his passing in 1970. It holds special significance because it is where Dobell created many of his most celebrated works.
The collection storeroom at MAC yapang houses over 1,000 artworks, and they are carefully preserved and cared for by the MAC yapang staff. It is a wonderful treat to see these works on display, especially in the name of such an important artist so deeply woven into the fabric of our creative history.
This exhibition is located in the Art and Community exhibition space at MAC yapang.
