Amidst
Exhaustion seeps into the everyday: work, tidying, making meals that go uneaten, and navigating the chaos of the world outside. In the moments between, the pull toward mindless scrolling offers no relief, only a deeper sense of depletion. This body of work grows from that fatigue, searching for stillness and a space to be held in quietness. Through making, the artist builds a personal shelter, finding rest and renewal amid the weight of daily life.
Born in Maitland, 1992, Gillian Adamson is a painter based in Newcastle, NSW. Adamson’s works traverse universal experiences and the idea of the spirit. Her works feel like an intrusion into the most intimate parts of a persons life, but also show the small joys of human existence.
This is her second solo exhibition at Straitjacket.
