Becoming Visible brings together new mixed‑media works by Newcastle-based artist Eira Chidgey, whose layered process draws on textile sensibilities, intuitive mark‑making and a love of primitive shapes. Built up in translucent veils, stitched textures and interruptions of colour, the paintings navigate daily life—parenthood, memory and the quiet rituals of home—without locking these experiences into literal narrative. Instead, fragments surface and recede, inviting viewers to project their own stories into the gaps. At Wester’s intimate Bolton Street space, the works read like pages from a private sketchbook scaled up to the wall: gestures hover between drawing and collage; seams and edges remain deliberately present; and small, attentive decisions accumulate into images that feel both provisional and sure‑footed.
