LEDA is pleased to present Material Witness, a new solo exhibition by New South Wales artist Murray Gain.

Working across painting, printmaking and material experimentation, Gain explores the relationship between memory, place and the physical traces embedded within everyday environments. Drawing from found materials, natural processes and traditional painting techniques, his practice investigates how surfaces can become vessels for time, experience and transformation.

Through the use of weathered street posters, eco-dyed fabrics, acrylic, oil and lino printing, Gain creates richly layered works that balance intention with chance. His paintings reveal the quiet dialogue between human intervention and the agency of materials themselves, uncovering the overlooked histories held within ordinary objects and transforming them into tactile records of lived experience.
