Inspired by a series of poems written in 2021, Night Sonnets explores darkness, dreams and the mysterious spaces that exist between worlds.

The exhibition brings together acrylic paintings, ink drawings and carved wooden sculptures that grew from the imagery of the poems, creating a surreal and dreamlike landscape.

Andrew Shillam, based in Grafton NSW, is the recipient of the 2025 Creative Clarence Travelling Fellowship through Grafton Regional Gallery, supporting his travel to Newcastle.

During the exhibition he will also undertake a short artist residency at The Creator Incubator, developing a new wood sculpture.
