SKYGAZER
SKYGAZER presents new paintings by Jane Kerrigan, an Australian painter based on Awabakal Country. The works are built through repetition and variation, returning again and again to the sky as subject. Across the series, Kerrigan tracks subtle shifts in light, colour and atmosphere, using layered brushwork and an abstract, impressionist approach to suggest weather, time passing, and changing conditions.
Kerrigan’s process is informed by an interest in quantum theory and the idea that matter and energy shape how we perceive colour and light. Rather than illustrating science, the paintings use it as a prompt to look more closely at sensation and perception. SKYGAZER invites slow viewing, like watching the day change from a verandah, and noticing small transitions that are easy to miss.
