Jono Everett - The Quiet Room
Singleton Arts + Cultural Centre

Newcastle artist Jono Everett presents his first museum solo exhibition, and his largest exhibition to date, at Singleton Arts + Cultural Centre.

The Quiet Room explores home, memory and the emotional weight carried by the everyday objects that surround us. Working with hundreds of discarded chairs salvaged from the roadside, Everett dismantles and reassembles familiar domestic forms into meticulously constructed sculptures that hold traces of previous lives.

There is something both familiar and unsettling in these works. Dark timber, fragments of furniture and flashes of colour become a language for connection, family, loss, desire and the complicated idea of home.

This is a significant exhibition for Everett and one well worth the trip to Singleton.
