The Silver Line
Wilks explores the notion of balance and battling with the experience of life. Through the use of
printmaking and cyanotypes and it’s unexpected joy, to the highly purposefully, controlled act of
drawing and stitching, Wilks explores ideas of spirituality, joy in the ordinary and mental health.
‘The Silver Line’ is Wilks’s first Solo Show and was created in the comfort and chaos of her own
home in The Hunter Valley where she turned to the environment around her and the emotions
inside of her for inspiration and produced this body of work for clarity. Details of the ordinary can
be seen throughout her work from snail trails to leaf silhouettes from her Mum’s salvia plant that
blooms in Autumn, to bigger more grand things that all life require to live like the sun and moon.
This exhibition is about feeling human and what is felt, thought and seen in your mind whilst
walking that line between joy and despair. Walking along that silver line.
