Threshold
THRESHOLD brings together Raina Thomson and Marisabel Gonzalez in a duo exhibition at LEDA Gallery.
The exhibition considers the threshold as a place of transition, testing and transformation. Across two distinct bodies of work, Thomson and Gonzalez explore the spaces between what has been and what is yet to come, reflecting on identity, memory, emotional release and the quiet processes of change.
For Thomson, the threshold becomes a meeting point of limits and boundaries. Working through colour, form, raw medium and expressive mark-making, her paintings examine the grief of shedding an identity that is no longer aligned. Raw, personal and stripped back, the works allow emotion to stand on its own, holding the tension and relief of reaching a limit.
Gonzalez presents works from an ongoing series of paintings created in a summer studio without walls, exposed to wind, rain and heat. These conditions became part of the process, leaving visible traces within the finished works. Her paintings approach change not as a dramatic rupture, but as something shaped slowly through accumulation, exposure and time.
Together, the artists present THRESHOLD as a space of becoming, where transition is felt through material, atmosphere and lived experience.
