Tippy Toes
Straitjacket presents *Tippy Toes*, a new exhibition by Brisbane-based artist Kerrie Oliver. The show centres on the act of painting—gesture, colour, rhythm and the physical decision‑making that happens at the edge of a mark. Oliver builds images that feel immediate yet considered, shifting between moments of clarity and passages that hover near abstraction. Across the works she plays with tempo and touch, letting brushwork carry memory and sensation while forms gather, dissolve and re‑form. The installation invites slow looking: relationships between surfaces, intervals of space and the quiet pressure of the picture plane reveal themselves over time. Opening day offers an extended window to meet the artist and talk about process, with the gallery’s signature generous hours making it easy to drop in and spend time with the work.
