Wester Gallery presents Women on Chairs and Objects, a solo exhibition by acclaimed Newcastle artist Paula Thistleton.

Known for her distinctive figurative paintings and keen observations of everyday life, Thistleton’s latest body of work continues her exploration of people, place and the objects that surround us. Through intimate compositions and a characteristic painterly approach, the works invite viewers into moments of quiet reflection, familiarity and connection.

The exhibition also considers the commodification of women’s fashion through imagery sourced from high-end fashion magazines. Through repetition and reinterpretation, the figure gradually shifts towards abstraction. In this process, the repeated image becomes a further act of objectification, reflecting the way women’s bodies are reproduced, consumed and aestheticised within fashion media.
