The Owens Collective is a dynamic gallery and event precinct located in the historic former R.J. Owens food co-op building in Islington, Newcastle. Following an extensive 2020 restoration, the site has been reimagined into a contemporary creative hub featuring industrial-chic short-term accommodation at Mrs Owens Lofts, boutique retail spaces, Suki Muma’s Korean street food, a rooftop pool, and a flexible warehouse venue.

The precinct hosts a wide range of events — from corporate off-sites, workshops, photo shoots and markets to special events and laneway activations — all set against the backdrop of rotating local art exhibitions. With recycled timber, pressed-metal ceilings, and preserved original features, The Owens Collective blends heritage character with modern versatility, making it a distinctive setting for creative and commercial gatherings.
